Kidd trade is pretty much done.

I’m so disgusted I’m done posting for the week. This is what I think of the trade:

On the bright side….i’m drawing a blank.

Wednesday Mavs Snippets

  • Jason Kidd to Mavs imminent?! “The proposed swap — salvaged from talks of a three-way trade with Portland that developed and fizzled quickly two weeks ago — would require Dallas to send 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, the expiring contracts of center DeSegana Diop and swingman Devean George and another player such as guard Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and possibly forward Malik Allen or veteran guard Darrell Armstrong. It’s believed that Dallas would also send New Jersey cash ($3 million is the league maximum) and one or two future first-round draft choices. One source told ESPN.com that the Mavericks and Nets were also discussing a separate trade that would send Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second-round pick. ”  ESPN

Update – Jason Kidd thread about this deal exploding at Mavs Moneyball

  • What do you know..Mavs actually were looking at trading for Shaq. “Incidentally, after Dallas failed to convince the Heat to buy out Shaquille O’Neal, the Mavericks offered Erick Dampier and discussed Jason Terry but never offered Josh Howard. Phoenix’s offer was much better.
    Miami Herald
  • Clippers aren’t interested in trading away Magette..supposedly. “Forward Corey Maggette, who has been on a recent scoring spree and who can opt out of his contract at the end of the season, remains an object of trade interest around the league.Dunleavy said the Clippers do not have anything brewing involving Maggette.” Orange County Register

If you didn’t have a reason for moving to Scotland before..

BeerThe price of beer has gotten so low it’s cheaper than water there!  That must be one Utopia of a society.  It’s every man’s dream!  Babbling brooks of beer! Fermented fluids flowing freely from faucets!  And if you’re drunk enough, EVERY woman is hot!  Stay away from the sheep though.  The Scotsman

The game last night

Just what is going on?  Are the Mavs really that helpless without Harris and Dampier?  I knew the Mavs liked to fall into a comfortable jump shooting game, but this is ridiculous.  Two straight losses to bad teams both in the same fashion just doesn’t make them seem like contenders for anything let alone an NBA championship.  Both times they got smeared across the floor in the 2nd half, losing a double digit lead.  It’s plain horrible.  Horrible to watch.  Horrible to hear about.  Horrible.

But wait, one might point out, their record is still great.  They still beat all the good teams in the West, and EVERYBODY knows that’s where the competition is.  They are still in the running.  Plus, it’s just the regular season.  They’ll turn it on when playoffs come.  Horse plop.

I don’t believe for one second they are coasting.  They haven’t shown any signs of a “secret” hidden gear they could tap into come playoff time.   Nobody remotely competitive would let themselves get blown out by such mediocre teams like they have lately.  I no longer have faith this current team can take us all the way.  Modifications need to be made.  Veteran leadership is great in the lockerroom, but do we really need that many veterans?  It’s time to move some of those pieces around and bring in some aggressive players that have a “drive to the hoop first” mentality.  As of now, without Devin Harris, this team is completely incapable of moving the ball around the court to create open, clear, high percentage shots.

Maybe I’m too accustomed to seeing the Mavs play well.  Perhaps I’ve gotten used to the Mavs dominating year after year.  As a Mavs fan, I ask you this: which would you prefer?  Your team being very good year after year without winning a championship (Mavs) or your team winning a championship and sucking really badly the next two years (Heat)?

Office Hot Topic of the Day

Amy Winehouse. Having never even heard of her, I looked her up after hearing about her from my friend last night.  Horse face.  That is all.

Space Fish?

It looks like monkeys are too expensive now. Instead, German scientists will shoot cichlids into space to observe the effects of zero gravity.  I got all excited envisioning a bunch of tiny fish floating around aimlessly into the great unknown until I read a few more lines.  Turns out they’re going to be in fish tanks the whole time.  I guess it’s ok though.  Randomly falling fishticks reentering our stratosphere probably wouldn’t be very pleasant. Monday Mavs Snippets

Jason Kidd to Dallas? Don’t count on it.  According to Mark Cuban, the Nets want too much for their aging point guard. In the article, Cuban says “we’d have to trade away half the team” to make the trade work.   ESPN

Corey Magette trade scenario.

My thoughts? GOOD. We don’t need another point guard even if he does rack up the assists.  We need someone to consistently attack the rim. We need a bigger shooting guard.  Make the trade for Corey Magette.

This trade works.  Mavs would be near invincible.
